So I finally got around to editing, resizing and posting a bunch of long overdue photos.

Yard Dogs Road Show & Capitol City Carnival

More beers than you can shake a stick at, & the Yard Dogs. What more could you ask for? Not much, I tells ya. Rebecca, Drew, Heather, Kristlyn, Joe & I all hit the Capitol City Carnival over the weekend. It was a blast. I personally saw the Yard Dogs three times, & each time was just as fun as the last. They are a great show. The Saturday night show was my personal fav, with Tobias swallowing a red-lit glass tube & the lights out so’s you could see it glowing in his throat… awesome. After the show, we even got to hang out with Zoe for a bit. She was very cool, & Kristlyn got some photos of her with the girls. Heather was, needless to say, close to drooling

I also really dug a couple of the bands. American Dumpster was really good, & I liked the D.J. Williams Projekt. American Dumpster’s hard to describe, but they’ve got a washboard player who really tears it up. ‘Nuff said. D.J. Williams Projekt sounds a lot like a Karl/Soulive mix.

The beers were ridiculous, as expected. It’s always a good thing when you can start your Saturday with a full pint of Siberian Night straight from the tap. Good news for MD’ers, too: Stone’s finally distributing. We had a long talk with the head of the Mid-Atlantic distributor account, who reassured us that they were coming out in force.

Cross-country Roadtrip!

Well, we survived our drive across the country! Travis and I helped our friend, Heather, move back to Maryland which she chose to do in an RV. Heather drove from Portland, OR down to Oakland, CA where we met her and then together we drove all the way back to Maryland…a total distance of 4200miles!

Photos from OC weekend…

We finally got around to posting photos from the weekend in OC. I picked some of the better ones from the weekend, and some other ones that aren’t particularly great photos but they reminded me of things that we did (Thrashers fries, dog in a box, etc) We had an unbelievably great weekend hanging out with family, and with friends we don’t get to see very much.
This was also the first time I really got to play with the new camera, and I am just super in love with it (thank you!)
Hopefully more great photos are in its future, but I think some of these from OC came out great….then again, babies and dogs are great subjects!

Back from Belize…

As you probably already know, I just got back from a work trip to
Belize. It's my second 'business' trip to the Smithsonian Field
Station which is on a teeny tiny island called Carrie Bow Cay.
It's an amazing place, and just the coolest place to go and do
work. The cook, Martha, is also just fabulous – she feeds us very
very well. The weather didn't really cooperate very well,
though. Apparently November and December are not the best months
to go as they tend to have stormy weather often. Yup. Had
that. We 'live' on Carrie Bow Cay, but we do our data collection
at a nearby island which is actually 2 cays so it's called "Twin
Cays", which is a boat ride away. Almost every day was overcast, windy and rainy which made
for difficult conditions to try to get boats off the island (rough) and
even worse conditions to try to collect data via underwater video and
still photos. Visability was very bad because of particulate
matter in the water and b/c fresh water rain runoff from the mangroves
floats on top of the salt water which creates a "fresh water lens"
which basically screws up your visability. So, we didn't get
everything done that we were hoping to do, but we got some things
accomplished. On an afternoon when it wasn't raining we shot some
video and on the stormy days when we couldn't leave the island we
edited the video. Here it is, it's not great but you get an idea
